Washington Alumni

“TeenPact is an amazing way to learn more about God while learning about government.  At first I thought it was going to be a boring sit-in-a-class type of thing.  Boy was I wrong.  You get to take a prayer walk through the state house, meet and talk to interesting people such as justices of the Supreme Court, and learn more about our government.  I highly recommend it.” ~WA TeenPact Representative, Emma Wolfe ‘07

“When my mom signed me up for TeenPact Washington 2007 I didn’t know what to expect.  It was a course about government which certainly seemed to lessen its chances of being an enjoyable experience.  I had heard many good things about TeenPact but politics had never interested me so my prayer for the 4 day course was simply: “Father, make the class go by very quickly.”  It did–but by the end of the first day I knew that the next three days would go by much too quickly.  The way the course was set up made learning about government fun and interesting even for someone who was not “into” government.  So on an educational level TeenPact was wonderful, but that wasn’t all.  I was blessed through my time at TeenPact socially and spiritually as well.  The leaders at TeenPact were incredible and I really enjoyed fellowshipping with them and the other teenpacters.  I made many new friends and I gained a closeness to God that I had not felt in years.  By the last day, I was already certain that I would be attending the class again next year.  It was an amazing program.” ~Alissa Passburg ‘07

“I have attended the TeenPact classes since 2005 and it has changed my life forever.  I never knew that it could be so easy to make an impact in our society.  The best part about it is that all of the activities lead back to the main issue, which is God.  The focus on God and the Gospel makes it a must for all who desire to make an impact in our culture.  I would highly recommend TeenPact to anyone.” ~WA TeenPact Governor ’06, Benjamin Rojas ’07 (now Registration Manager at National TeenPact Office)

“Are you an interested teen looking for an understanding of your government? Go to TeenPact. Not only do you get a chance to see and experience government first hand, you learn how to do the things that people in government have been doing for over 200 years, from writing bills to campaign management. And while giving the basic facts, it provides a Christian view of things. Before I went, I didn’t even know my representatives names, and now I’ve shaken hands with one of them! So I definitely urge you as a motivated teenager, do TeenPact!” ~Sarah Hinson ‘07

“TeenPact is about teaching teens how the government works, and how we can affect our government.  But there is something more than that. There is a powerful attitude that pervades the whole experience. Not attitude in the negative sense, but an attitude of strong respect.  There is earnestness in thought and action, not lacking fun, but without flippancy or disrespect.  The authorities above us, God and the Bible are all held in honor.  Those who are afraid to speak or struggle to put their thoughts into words are not laughed at but included and encouraged.  The girls dress in a feminine, modest manner.  The boys dress in neat business wear.  There is not flirtatious banter, but there is a hearty invigorating spirit of brothers and sisters in Christ, here to learn how to make a difference in our government, our community and our culture.  We are treated like we are and expected to be mature and responsible.  There is something heady and invigorating in that, something that creates a desire in your spirit to rise to that expectation–that challenge–that can change your whole life.” ~Christina Hole ‘07

“… It’s a wonderful program that focuses on servant leadership and raising an army of godly young people to rise to the responsibility of adulthood.  2007 is my 4th year of being involved with TeenPact and it has been LIFE changing.  It has helped me in my walk with God and in understanding how I can make a difference in government.  I strongly recommend spreading the word about TeenPact and bringing young people you know to the class next year.  The program is a week long and is packed full of fun things such as making bills into laws, having your own committee, interviewing lobbyists, and most of all worshiping God on Capital grounds.” ~WA TeenPact  Governor, Jonathan Roth ‘07

“This is my first year participating in the TeenPact class and it turned out to be one of the highlights of the year. Before TeenPact, I did not have the slightest idea how the government was run. TeenPact has impacted me hugely: it has encouraged me to go into politics, it has given me more knowledge on why it is so important to support our governmental leaders and it has shown me that senators, representatives etc. are just normal people.  I highly recommend TeenPact to all families.  It is a great way to see the way our government is run and it is a very fun experience. Washington State Legislators

“Each year TeenPact students come to our State Capitol in Olympia while the Legislature is in session. During the week students have the opportunity to observe the House and Senate Floor debates and legislators are invited to speak to them.  The students learn the legislative process by writing bills and conducting mock hearings and legislative sessions. It is my honor to be the legislative sponsor for TeenPact, an organization that teaches students civic responsibility and helps to develop their leadership skills.”  ~Senator Val Stevens, 39th Leg. District

“As a Christian and conservative representative in a progressive state, TeenPact is one particular event I look forward to addressing each session.  It is encouraging to see so many young citizens taking an active interest in their government, seeking to continue the Biblical foundations of our representative government.  It is encouraging to speak to these future leaders who are on fire for the Lord and His ways. Our nation is hungry for “truth” and TeenPact plants the seeds that will feed us.  The truth of our heritage is fading from the mainstream history books.  TeenPact gives me hope that the vision of our founding fathers will continue for future generations.” ~Representative Jim McCune, 2nd Leg. District

Other Students From Across the Nation:

“I have been involved in TeenPact for two years, and in that time I have had the opportunity to staff four classes and attend two alumni events!  All I can say is that TeenPact is awesome!!  Leadership and communication skills is something that we all need to learn and cultivate, as well as our ability to interact with others; and since TeenPact covers all of these areas I would say it is the ideal program for any young person wishing to advance themselves in life.” ~ National TeenPact Senator Krista Sellers, FL ‘07

“TeenPact, to me, is about making a difference.  It makes you feel less alone in your convictions.  TeenPacters all have a positive outlook on life that’s Biblically based.  They all are aware of lots of what’s going on in our culture today, and why what’s declining, and how to fix it.  When you’re together with like-minded people it’s very encouraging, and you know that you can make a difference after all.  That’s what TeenPact does:  Shows you that you can make a difference, prepares you for it, and then shoves you out into the world to prove it.” ~Steven Franklin, AL ‘07

“When I first attended my state TeenPact class back in 2002, I had no idea how much it would change my life.  Since then, among other things, I’ve acquired a deep passion for impacting the realm of politics for Christ.  Politics is no longer a “spectator sport”, but rather an area of life that is incredibly easy to get involved in and make a difference.  I would also be remiss if I didn’t mention the incredible friendships that I’ve been able to make through TeenPact.  I am proud to say that I have friends across the nation who share this desire to impact the world for Christ.  TeenPact is amazing.  Get involved.” ~Erika Gebel ‘07

TeenPact has been a blessing in my life. It has encouraged me to know the issues that are going on in our capitol and the importance of praying for those in authority. It has also shown me what God’s design for government is, and how God works in every situation. Teen Pact has pushed me out of my comfort zone. It has enabled me to speak to my senator and representative, and has helped me get out in the world and meet people. The last and most important thing is that Teen Pact has drawn me closer to my Lord and Savior. It has challenged me to trust Him with my entire life. Not just in the little things but also in the big things.  If you enjoy being around like minded people who are passionate about serving the same God that you do and are interested in making a difference Teen Pact is for you. May God bless you and use you for His glory! ~Shabana Sparks, Iowa ‘07
